Large map, 10 civs, monarch...playing Japs..end up on continent with only Persians...at 70 AD I have reseached only 5 techs...researched hard to literacy and then map making and built Great Library and Lighthouse.

Cut research to one scientist who 40 turns later got Philosophy.

Finally managed to get a galley in sight of another Civ without sinking over the endless ocean.

Will I now get caught up on tech or will I simply get Education only and be left hopelessly in the ancient age????

I expect to find the other Civs waaaaayy ahead. Persia has only a few (4) more techs than I. At least as far as I can see, I may only be able to prereqs.

This extreme GL no research strat is nerve racking.

Duh! Can only discover techs for which I have prereqs so I trade for comms and get 14 techs from the GL. If I had not gotten Pottery from a hut and had no used that one scientist to reseach Philosophy I would have gotten them as well for a total of 16.

Fourteen techs in one turn is a record for me thats for sure. Got mono in the next age and researching Feudalism.

Gee I got to build a lot of stuff now!
