Questions about government types? Please!

Does it help if you play a tribes preferred government type? Does it hinder your civilization if you do not? I have not been able to find any posts about this.

yup, it help, for example Russia and China prefer communism, I saw this in the editor

Government types have their own inherent attributes, and this is what you get when you play them. Someone may correct me, but I believe the "preferred" tag simply means that the AI will have a propensity to choose this government for a particular civ.
