Questions about Tourist attraction Wonders

Hello.

At least in C3C, some wonders are supposed to become a tourist attraction after a while, bringing money. :goodjob:
But I have two questions: 1. How long does it take? I think I read it took 1,000 years for that. If that is true, how the hell is the Hoover dam ever to become an attraction? In most games, it's unlikely that you'll build it before 1050 AD, isn't it?
Conversely, ancient wonders would very quickly start bringing cash since earlier turns represent more years. This would be an added incentive to build some of them (like the Colossus).
2. How much money does it bring to you? When they're very ancient, the coins are too close to one another for me to tell them apart.

Thanks in advance.

I can't give you the exact numbers for sure off the top of my head, but, IIRC:
1000 years: 2gpt
1500 years: 4gpt
2000 years: 8gpt

It's something like that anyway. I'm sure someone who really knows will come along soon enough.

If, you're right, PB2k, the Hoover dam thing remains a mystery.

It's not a mystery, it's just unlikely, though far from impossible. The fastest SS win is (IIRC) 570AD; Hoover's was probably built ~0AD.

Thanks for the screenie. I for once should have read the civilopedia! But I'm so used to its containing only vague info...

I really wonder (no pun intended) how was achieved so early a SS victory... Since you can't research more than one tech every four turns, there must be barely enough turns from 4000 BC to 570 AD to get al the necessary tech to build the SS.

Here is the 570AD space race win that punkbass2000 is talking about. An extremely impressive game.

Amazing.
But what is this "big picture" trick?

Before you get your free tech as a Sci civ, you select 'What's the Big Picture' and then go around, gift all the other civs (who are all Sci as well) into the age you're entering. They will then have all the first tier techs between which you can trade for. Then you leave and your new tech will be second tier. This is particularly nasty if used in junction with Phil, as you can get two second tier techs or even a second and a third.
