Questions on technology/science...

I'll admit that I don't monitor my science beakers every turn, but I do know how to get improve them and improve my technology climb overall. I just wanted to know the average dates that most technologies usually come into place. For instance, Radio starts a new era, but when is it usually claimed?

Also, do technologies get cheaper as the game progresses or is this just fluctuations within my cities beaker progress? I ask because there are times when I see advanced techs requiring a TON of turns to complete, but within a few turns, it's dramatically cheaper in turns to get. Do techs get cheaper the further you are in the date of the game, or do your cities just get a lot more beakers quickly at times?
 
Techs get more expensive as time goes on in the tech tree, I believe, but science drastically increases as all cities are no longer new ones.

An easier tech to monitor would be liberalism, radio or any other would require many games and people coincidentally remembering. The replay can show the first to discover liberalism.
 
Techs are more as the time goes on. That would be an interesting experiment, to track what year you get each Tech. Keep in mind that you would want to do it by year being Game Speed effects the Tech Cost. Actually MAP size effects the cost, so early Techs could be slower just becuase you haven't expanded much.

The other problem with this is that depending on your desired victory type, you may go after specific Techs, and leave others behind. In my last game (space race), I never researched Democracy.
