I am at work and don't have a manual for reference, but I do have a question or 2:

It looks like there are fewer units than what was in Civ2. Is this because the new animations took too much time to have an equivalent/larger unit selection? I miss units like the attack helicopters... now they are just transports but attack helicopters play a big role in todays warfare.

2nd, can you build colonies in the water like Civ2? I haven't gotten far enough into the game, but I don't remember seeing water terraformers to modify water squares and construct ocean colonies (colony pods).

Don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the game... games just usually increase the amounts of units and such and I hope that it wasn't sacrificed due to graphical eye candy.

You must mean ctp 1 or 2...cuz they didnt have any of that futuristic underwater nonsense in civ2;)

That would be CTP 2.

There are less units, but heck, if I could actually get the resources to build the ones in the game I would be happy. [dance]

I never played CTP, but maybe I am confusing this with Alpha Centari or maybe with a Civ2 mod pack.

Wait, now it is coming back... in Civ2 there was a city improvement which allowed shields produced in water squares, right?

Hehe, at 29 I am starting to feel old... games are blending together!

That's offshore platform. I think it's still in civ3. But I did not play to industry age yet. In SMAC, you can build city in water, but not in civ3, seems.
