Do the temples you get from the temple giving GW double their culture after a thousand years like regular temples? I can't remember if the game allows you to build structures in a city that has a free version of it from wonder, if it does and you build a actual temple before the effect ends and if the free temples double culture after a thousand years.. does building a temple before the GW expire allow you to keep double culture?

Nope, ToA only gives the effect of a temple in each city. These cities don't actually have a temple, so there is no culture doubling. Also, you can't build temples if you have the ToA, So the ToA even prevents you from getting real temples for the doubling effect.

I have a question...does that cheat really work? The one where you make a world completely of mountains, and you'll win?

Yes. All AI's will kill their settlers because they can't settle anywhere, thus leaving you as the only Civ.

I have another quick question. I can't find any units that upgrade to tanks. Do any units upgrade to tanks or will I have to build them from scratch?

Nothing does, so you'll have to build them from scratch.

how do i upload the downloads into my game?

That will depend on which downloads you're talking about. Most of the downloads have an associated thread in which you can ask questions.

things such as unit downloads and things that will enhance my gameplay. i looked through everything in the file and it didnt say how to add it.

I just had a thought...
If you build and lose a great wonder that matches one of your traits, then build another that matches the other, do you get a GA? I'm wondering if this could be exploited to avoid an awkward GA.

I think the check goes - you have just built a GW and you own a GW with each of your traits. If you capture a GW with each of your traits there is no GA but if you later build a GW even if it has none of your traits then a GA is triggered (if you haven't already had one)

That's my understanding too, which makes me think that the exploit should work (I don't remember seeing it described before but I wouldn't be surprised if it has been). Say you're the Ottomans or the Sumerians, and you build the Pyramids. Just before the Great Library completes, gift the Pyramids to a distant civ, finish the Library then re-take the Pyramids. It makes me want to try a treble-whammy Pyramids & Great Library loan, with IA GA.

But you need a third wonder to triger the GA. I don't know why you would want an IA GA anyway, but presumably the sequence you have in mind is.
1) build pyramids
2) just before GL completes give away Pyramids
3) complete GL
4) retake pyramids
5) gift GL just before education
6) retake GL to get all the techs
7) build another wonder for a GA

you can build wonders between 5 and 6 with no GA being triggered as long as they are not scientific. Its probably easier than trying to get a UU triggered GA with the sumerians!

Yeah, that kind of thing, number 7) is optional; the IA GA is the cherry on top for the Ottomans really; triggered by Sipahi just after Steam.

If I understand your question correctly, yes, TruePurple.

Flipping is a bit complex:

A city may flip if:
A) Some of the tiles in the fat cross are in the control of another culture borders (no matter if the city has expanded culture or can work tiles) or
B) some of the citizens in the city are not native or
C) because of propaganda, but that's minor

If one of those conditions is true, then you check for a chance to flip, and part of *that* equation is the relative culture of the 2 civs (if your civ has more total culture, the chance of your cities flipping is less than if the other civ has more total culture)

There is also variable which includes total culture in that city from the other civ vs. yours.

if you want to flip an opposing city, plop cities down next to that one and build some culture. It's easy to do up to regent or so, less easy after that, and becomes very difficult as you get to deity and SID. In fact, on the higher levels, you have to worry about the AI flipping YOUR cities, and conquest is often an exercise in raze and replace.

Can you link me to a article on how culture and flip works please?

Does a ship being veteran reduce its risk of sinking in unfriendly waters? Does it reduce it by very much? Is a curragh more likely to sink in unfriendly waters then a galley? Are either more likely to sink on ocean squares then sea squares?
