"Quick-turnchat" to sign peace with the Iroquois

'Course, the easiest approach would be for the ministers to get together, come up with solid plan that all approve, and present that to the citizens.

Hmmm, that would be leadership though. Can our elected officials step up to the plate on this? The gauntlet is thrown.

No, that would be teamwork. Leadership would be suggesting city placements or war plans. There is already a solid plan for peace that has overwhelming support.

But i am still not shur on the idea of giving math for 40 gold and a world map

If it were any other country and any other tech level, I would agree.

But you have to remember 2 things:

1. France has a LOT of unexplored (by us) land in the North.

2. This is for Mathematics 6th. They're the ONLY ones without the tech. (We're not even talking Poly here. We're talking Math!)

Also, we get 80% of their current Gold reserves. But we get something more than that.. the World Map gives us knowledge of their lands. Knowledge that will serve us well in the ages to come.

All for a 2nd tier tech at 6th (out of 12) level.

And, again, France is far away. So we won't have to worry about them attacking us with... catapults? You ever see the AI use Catapults in an offensive?

No - it is leadership. See, it's teamwork amongst the leaders, that is true. But, but working out a viable plan and presenting that to us, that's leadership. That's what I want to see from our officials!

Ok, looks like we have several options.

1 - Do the peace deal with the Iroqouis, netting MapMaking.

or

2 - Do the mapmaking trade with France for their world map, allowing us to trade for more maps.

Sounds like a poll, and at this rate... the next turnchat will be here before we even do a "quick-preturn chat"... :crazyeye:

I think Foreign Affairs and Trade need to talk together on this...

We won't get Mapamking from France.

Giving France Math will net us their Map and 40 Gold regardless of whether we have mapmaking or not. This is because France has Mapmaking and onyl 1 civ requires it.

Welcome to the Demogame, SD3...

I would prefer we get mapmaking from the Iroquois, what do you want to do?

This thread is about a quick-chat to seal a peace treaty with the Iroquios. No other deals were proposed for the quick chat. There would have to e a lot of polling done before anything else could be added to the peace treaty or the quick chat. What stage is this in?

I suppose if we do the French trade, we can sign a peace treaty, and look for map trades within a certain limit.

The Trade department already supports this measure fully :)

All I was trying to say was that a 0-turn TC would be unnecessary because we already have all forseeable trading options available to us.

Yes, Trade should poll for the French and Roman Deals.

Perhaps we should have a quick TC tommorow for the Peace deal alone and an "extra" turnchat on Thursday once we've ironed out all of the orders.

Actually, that's not a bad idea, SD3. This is really getting hard to believe.

But...as we have a T/C tomorrow night and CT probably needs that time slot for the T/C, we should examine what we know and can do now.

In pre-turn - We can sign a peace treaty with the Iroquois, and get the 9 gold, Mapmaking, and their territory map. Then with the approval of Trade and Science, we can trade France Mathematics in return for their World Map and 40 gold. And it looks like there is some minimal support for re-negotiating peace with the Romans, although I don't know if that will fly or not. Once we get the Iro Map and Joan's Map, we won't need to trade for other maps unless we get contact with tribes very far away, which doesn't seem likely. So more map trading doesn't need to take place. My big worry is that Rik's Lake won't get 51% of the vote in your second poll, SD3. If it doesn't, we'll waste a Settler in between 2 cities. But either way, City Settlement shouldn't hold us up either. So a normal Turn Chat could be held tomorrow. Let's see.
