Forgive the new thread. I cannot find a conclusive answer as to wether or not C4 will run on my comp.

The results at (that testing website) tell me my vid card fails. It meets the min. requirements but the driver causes the fail. When I go to the ATI and HP websites (it's a Compaq/HP) it looks like I have the latest driver.

Can anyone tell me where this card stands on the video card totem pole?

The rest of the system passes, barely.

I really don't want to buy a new comp now because I'll be overseas for a few months from Jan-March, so it makes more sense to wait until I get back to make a purchase.

Anyway, any help or wise words are appreciated. :)

You may be out of luck - it seems that you have no T&L (http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.aspx?i=1679&p=2) which may put you out of the running (ie "I'm sorry, I cant install Civ IV on your PC 'cos you don't got no T&L"). On the other hand it may just make your experience (unbearably?, tolerably?) slow.

We wont really know how non-T&L cards will function until people start wailing about it on these boards.

The other issue is video memory - integrated graphics means shared video memory - means glacial performance for demanding 3D applications. You appear to have an integrated chipset soooo......

My laptop only has 32MB VRAM and I am sweating on how my performance will be. I figure my set-up (32MB, AGP, T&L) will probably be about the minimum you can get away with (even though it's below the minimum spec), but that's just speculation...You'll know for sure in 24 hours

Thanks for the reply and link. I have 64mb shared, 3d accel, and T&L but it still says the driver fails.

But you're right, 24 hours from now I'll know. :)

You'll likely be able to install the game, but it's not going to run well. Sucks that it's a laptop...
