So, for fun, I learned enough python to cause the Baron to spawn as a barbarian once Feral Bond is researched. I changed his AI to just attack and pillage and upped his Werewolf convert rate to 75. For the first few games I played this way, he was killed by the first city defender he attacked, so I gave him a city attack promotion. Next game he got some scouts and stray units and was able to build a small werewolf army and took one of my cities. That's what I wanted to see. Gave him Blitz too, but he just attacked until he died. He left a lot of werewolves though.

I'd enjoy making this into a module, but am not sure if it's possible since python is involved. Perhaps there's a way around that? I'm open to suggestions too. I'd like him to spawn earlier, since the AI doesn't go for Feral Bond for a very long time. Generally I want him to be really damn destructive, but he was getting a bunch of Orthus-style wah-wah moments. Also, the werewolf conversion mechanics have changed since .23, unless I'm wrong. The new werewolves are fully healed and the conversion rate isn't the old 100-3n percent. I preferred the former .23 way for each.

Please share your thoughts and knowledge. I'll let you know what changes you can make to your python and xml if you wanna try it out.

technically speaking, i can offer absolutely nothing of any relevance or help.

on the other hand, sounds pretty cool. never liked the idea of only 1 person being able to "make" a werewolf(yeah i know, i read the civilopedia entry on him being summoned) making him a barbarian sits much better with me. I'd be very interested in seeing this.

just throwing this out there, it might be interesting to give the baron a withdrawl chance, and then, if possible, make it so any unit he withdrawls from still has a chance of becoming a werewolf, but one that remains loyal to its owner, doesn't become a barbarian.

very interested to see what you do with this.

That looks like good fun! Why don't you give him the Marksman promotion as well, so he can prey on the weak? :)

In 2 of my 5 raging barb Epic games on a Huge map there WERE barb Barons. I didn't have to tweak anything.

I'm not sure if they were spawned or built. I think with the Lambuscum setting and the resulting many barb cities (I had more than 40 on a map I checked) you get the barbs building a wide variety of things...like the Baron now.

Still, I don't think they should be allowed to build Wonders. ;)

AFAIK, the Baron can turn barbarian, so that might explain it.

Well, he is the one werewolf that doesn't start enraged, but he can still be turned barbarian by the rage spell, by a barb unit with command, by the Avatar, etc. Plus I see no reason why the barbs shouldn't be able to build him like everyone else.
