Hey guys

I've been playing around with a planet generator script, using maps that are approximately 1.7x the height and width of a huge map (generating ~3x the amount of space a huge map possesses).

I always play with raging barbarians and barbarian world for harsh realism. However, I experienced impossible odds on a game I played recently.

By around turn 300 stacks of barbarians (lizard men, orcs, goblins) of 20-30 in size turned up at my borders and proceeded to consume my empire. I was wondering how this is possible? Are these organised stacks a result of the clan casting for the horde and victimising me, or does the barbarian faction actually sit back and stack its troops.

In the past ive usually experienced a steady (but generally non-stacked) flow of barbarians. I was wondering whether it is sensible for me to turn off raging barbarians on such huge 33 civ maps, or whether I should be leaving out the two clan of embers dudes so that they can't crush any player at will with their world spell...?

Thanks guys

Al

I think what you're experiencing is the fact that there are more barbarians depending on how many players there are. Although this would usually be alright, they have all appeared nearer you then your enemies spaced out. So, instead of all players being hit by three or four, all enemies are hit by one, and one is hit by about 30.

Is there any way to get round this? It ruined our hotseat game that had took around 12 hours of playing...

an easy temp. fix would be to go to the world editor and remove the barbs :p

besides that, either don't play with raging barbs, or increase your defences.

I can't enter the world builder in a hotseat game unfortunately
