I've played more than 30 games, never used Raging barbs. Then I was playing around to get the "He Threw a Car at My head" achievement and set Raging Barbs on. Got the badge, turned OFF (deselected) Raging Barbs, started a new game - AND RAGING BARBS WAS STILL IN EFFECT!!!

WTH??

Finally had to quit, start a new game with No Barbs selected!

Double checked - Raging Barbs deselected!

Is this a known bug?

I've had this happen when I play one game with them on and then start a new game without going into "advanced setup" when I start the second game. I fixed it by starting a game in the advanced setup screen with the turned off.

But I did go into advance setup and turned it off, double checked it later and it was OFF. But I still got Raging Barbs????

I'm not entirely convinced its called Raging Barbs so that there are more Barbs, its that the Barbs will make you rage. I've been playing a lot with one of the Communitas maps lately and found that Barbs weren't that bad, but now that I've gone back to Vanilla Maps, wow, it feels like I'm playing with Raging Barbs.

If you've checked your settings as MrJep as suggested then it could just be coincidental. I know the feeling, sometimes certain maps just feel as though Barbs are just swarming. The other element that annoys me just as much is how the Barb's seem to avoid the AI units and focus solely on me.

In the last few games I've noticed that during the course of a war the Barbs seem to march right along side the invading AI and they never attack the AI, just me.

I've seen the AI get attacked by Barbs. I think that given the choice between attacking a player or attacking an AI, they'll pick the player. Otherwise, if an AI is the only one to attack then they'll attack there.

After you started the game where you switched ranging barbarians off, did you return to main menu and start a new game again (for instance re-rolling bad start after a couple of turns), just using the same settings as game suggests?

There is a weird thing with the way game remembers your settings. I think it goes like this:
- If you start game from main settings menu, game will *not* remember your settings.
- If you initiate game, go into advanced settings and start game from there, game *will* remember your settings.
- If you initiate game, go into advanced settings and then go *back* to main settings menu and start game from there, game will *not* remember your settings.

So basically, this means game will remember whatever settings you had picked last time you started game from advanced settings menu. Try to start a new game, go into advanced settings and de-select raging barbs, and then start game directly from this menu - and see if this works.

If this was not the issue, I don't know what it could be.
