I believe you are using EDO DRAM:

Defenition:
Short for Extended Data Output Dynamic Random Access Memory, a type of DRAM that is faster than conventional DRAM. Unlike conventional DRAM which can only access one block of data at a time, EDO RAM can start fetching the next block of memory at the same time that it sends the previous block to the CPU.

Soooo.... EDO RAM isn't the same as DRAM but it sounds like your computer uses EDO DRAM

another question is it worth the risk spending NZ$ 100 - NZ$150 for 128 MB of it

thanks for your help

Well, if you could post how much NZ$ are worth in USD I could tell you :D

$NZ 1 is worth between 45 and 48 cents US

In that case. You may want to search around a tad more. That equates to about 75 USD which is a bit overpriced. I think the raw price may be higher there too so I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it but definately peek around and ask around a bit.

hmmm
I've looked around a bit and none of the places on the web that had it a couple of months ago have

might have to try ringing around
