Type =rand(99,99) in microsoft word, hit enter and see what happens

why does this happen?
is this a microsoft 'easter egg' of sorts?

appologies if this has been posted before, or if this is one of those newbie questions (equivilant to asking how to show more civs on the diplomatic advisor screen)

it has every letter in the english alphabet i've known it for quite sometime but i didn't know why it did it, i know the numbers are the number of sentences and paragraphs you want.

As far as I know, it is an easter egg put in by the programmers to help designers test new fonts.
