I love playing earth maps but the problem is that once you played it once or twice you know where the resources are! So my question is simply: Is there any way of radomising the reasource placement on an earth map??!

If anybody know, please post and let me know! cheers:king:

You can randomize resources on a premade made with the cheats outlined in the thread below:

Close your eyes so you don't see the results :) .

It doesnt work. I have edited the civilizationIV.ini file,
then i says i have to press ~ to acces the console window.
But nothing happends when i press ~ !
The idea is to press ctrl + alt + "the button with the ~ symbole on" when your in a game right? well nothing happens, can someone help?

Once you edit the file then you go into a game. Go into world builder and hit the ~ button. I screen will appear in the middle of the world editor. You then Type in "map.replacegameelements"

There are a lot of codes but this one does terrian bonuses, rivers and forests!

It doesnt work. I open a new game and then i open worldbuilder and then i press: alt + ctrl + the button with a ~ symbole on.
... nothing happens.
Then i just try to press the button without alt + ctrl.
... nothing happens
The ~button is the button between "P" and "backspace" with the symboles, ^ ¨ ~ on it, or am i pressing the wrong button?
I playing on a laptop if that make any difference.

If you just want to regenerate bonuses, type "map.generatebonuses".

If you are certain that you altered the proper .ini file, then from world builder, you only need to hit "~", and nothing else to get to the proper screen.

Perhaps you don't have the latest patch... not certain if that matters...

Recheck the .ini file. See if the cheat code was properly saved.

I use a PC logitech keyboard... the key is above the "tab" key, to the left of "1". Even though it is upper case on the keyboard, don't press shift+~ or you'll get >> instead of >, and that doesn't work. Of course, your problem is you get neither >> or > or any consule of any kind.

Another idea... the console command line is sort of transparent, and maybe you just dont see it... you should get a semi transparent rectangle, about 1 cm high by 15 cm long, with the command prompt ">" at the far right. Maybe you just missed it. And sometimes it takes a while to come up... maybe if you wait a while... if I recall, world builder is frozen until it comes up... do you get that effect?

Should work, otherwise. If it doesn't, you need more expert help than me.

Well now i've basicly tried all buttons on my keyboard and in the end it was the Norwegian letter Ø that i had to press on my norwegian keyboard to get the console to apear. So, problem solved. Thanks for all the help craig!
