Rardeon 9000/9100 mobility on compaq presario - Can anyone save my sanity??

Compaq presario with 512 mb ram - 128 mb of which is on the mobilty radeon card.

The game just hangs on the "loading" screen, the one where u get it in about five languages. it never progresses beyind that. The pc starts going wild, like its loading something yet it never seems to load.I dont get far enough to get the error message that most people seem to have.

I have tried updating the drivers using various catalyst packs but some say i dont have the correct hardware and some come back with an "Inf" error (i think its inf, or Ini)

Could any of you good people help me? perhaps someone knows where i can get drivers specific to my card?

It seems that a lot of people with this particular card have this same problem... this must be the 4th or 5th time I read a problem with the Radeon 9000 Mobility regarding not being able to get the game to run.

Update your chipset drivers, update your graphics drivers, try the Omega drivers... I don't have a solution really, just wanted to not that I see a lot of problems with this card.

The card supports hardware T&L, but its a DirectX 8.1 card. Could that be a potential problem?

Thanks for your advice, maartena. I tried the omega 2.6.75adrivers but still just hangs on the loading screen. Anyone else have this problem and have a solution?

I'm running an ATI Mobility 9000 on a ProStar 4794. The game runs fantastically, UNTIL I have "too much" going on the screen, in which case it completely shuts down.

Is there another thread or website we can post these troubles to?

I'm an AVID fan of this game, and I realize that something revolutionary has been done in producing it. I don't want to troll, but I also want to make sure the development and support team gets all the information possible.

well im an owner of a HP compaq nx 7010 with ATi Mobility 9200. The game was able to load but when i tried to play on huge maps it crashed. Downloaded the earlier catalyst 4.12 as recomended on a post and now my laptop thinks it has mobility 9000. Guess what, the last 48 hours im playing on huge maps without any crashes
