Rat26 - Random AWE

Maybe we could take the last attempt with ivory nearby. then at least we have something useful to build.

Before we start this, we need to discuss a few things. We can't just build units as the maintenance will kill us. The Glib looks also like a non issue as we have no prebuild possibility.

So, head for which tech? Actually going for WC is right in this case as we have iron too far off. After that alphabet and mathematics are a must while we maybe connect iron somehow?

ThERat, Why don't you pick one to play and post a start and we can start discussion. The Ivory is probably the most interesting what with the possibility of SoZ. We may even be wanting to get the Iron by taking a city for that one. One other of Overseer's or my start could connect Iron in 10 turns and so also playable.

IIRC, it is math for SoZ so ya, I would head for that if we choose that start. WC first might be good so we have some offense while we wait.

I like Overseer's ivory start, followed by Greebley's.

Oh yeah, and you can actually build GLib without pre-build on up to Emperor, but I don't know if we should try. I can't say how we would get techs if not for it???

I wanted to continue with the ivory start, but the proper save is missing :scan:
I certainly don't want to start from 4000BC again.
Overseer, can you post the right save and I can stare a new thread...Rat27

I errrrr lost the save from when I took the picture, so it will have to be played from 4000 BC. I could try to replicate the path I took or go for math then IW so we can build SoZ first, then capture tthe Iron. It's up to the team to decide.

This might be a pain to try to achieve, every time is see a town worth taking, next turn it drops to population 1. It will take quick execution to take a town so it won't auto-raze. I have been unable to duplicate my first success with that same save. Maybe a more experienced player might want to try it.

I have 1000 BC save with SoZ built. I could upload that as the starting save. Just from playing that far, I think the SoZ is crucial to winning this. I could redo it out to turn 20, 30, 40, etc. This one will be tough no matter what, with China, America, and Aztecs nearby. I will go ahead and upload the 1000 BC if everyone wants to start from there. It is a re-creation, payed toward the SoZ rather than Immortals.

i think we should go from there. no sense in starting with impossible conditions for this variant. never been a big fan of replaying turns, but if you want to start the game the game properly, i'm ok with it.

I don't like re-playing as the knowledge of the map changes things.

I rather go with Greebley's start then. If nobody objects, I will start a new thread tonight with Greebley's game. We can start discussing the strategy then.

I am okay with Greeb's start. It might still be a tough go of it. We're going to be building wealth many turns waiting for anyone to settle near us. Unit support is a killer with one city. Taking our 2nd and 3rd cities will be critical. Eventually, we can hold our cities while waiting for more to be built, then swoop in and take over when they get big enough.
