Raze enclaves immediately, or wait?

Question: Is it better to leave barbarian encampments until they become the subject of a city-state quest? I started a new game playing as the Aztecs, following the honour social policy tree and hunting all the barbarians down one by one. I only got the city-state quest to raze a barbarian enclave once, instead being asked to destoy another city-state. In previous games I got these enclave-raze quests all the time.

So, is it advantageous to NOT raze enclaves until they become quest subjects, or not? If so, it's a little silly.

If you are playing on king or lower, you can probably leave any of them that are by citystates you would like to be allied with. Get rid of the rest if you want. On higher difficulties the computer genocides the barbs pretty quick. You rarely ever see them again. I generally find its not woth the time to kill them on any difficulty, assuming you arent Askia?i think its askia. Better to keep exploring to find that maritime citystate in the early game.

In terms of whether or not to clear out the encampments, I agree. However, it's not that hard to keep up with exploration and wipe out barb camps you come across. Unless you're doing some crazy beeline, you should probably have at least one scout or warrior pretty early on in addition to your starting warrior. Hence, unless you're on an enormous continent (in which case you probably want more units for exploring anyways), it's pretty easy to balance the two. The possible city-state bonuses, the gold, and the experience are all a huge help.

And yes, always go for camps as Askia. Same goes for Bismarck unless you're isolated or just plain don't feel like conquering anybody (in which case, wrong civ ).
