How about this for when a city is razed.

When a city (say above 6 population) is razed the tile should leave rubble which has to cleared like pollution but will allow a new settler to build as normal there.
When a city above 12 is razed in addtion to the rubble a random amount of improvements round a one tile radius are destroyed.

The rubble should also appear when a city is abandoned.

Also when a city is abandoned all it's population should appear on that same tile. Where else do they go to? If you kill them there should be a negative reaction to this in nearby cities.

The same should apply when a city is razed except only a random percentage of the total population should appear depending on government- so a democracy who razes a city would capture most of that cities citizens
but another government would be more likely to kill them in the razing process.

Rubble should definately be clearable. I hate seeing ugly ruins all over the map. Maybe rubble could cut the food production in its square.

^ Good idea, but it should work from industrial age onwards..

And only for things destroyed a long time ago (you wouldn't generate much tourism from burning a huge city to the ground along with seven Great Wonders then slaughtering all twelve million people inside, now would you?)

Rubble *is* clearable - just build an improvement on it and it'll go away.

Any city razed from 1 age ago whose ruins are in your terrirtory should produce 1 gpt, and then 1 more gpt for every age after.. so 2 ages ago=2gpt, 3=3gpt. And yes, foor production should be -50%, same with normal production for rubble squares.. have to trade off eweather you want the $$ for it.. or the food (also cities that had wonders.. or capitols would be 1 extra GPT per wonder.) So, a capitol that is 1 age old with 3 wonders in it would be worth 5gpt. or if it was from 3 ages ago it would be 7 gpt.

i remember when i made my first kill..

on the island he was on it had 6 rubbles... i felt bad so i sent a transport full of workers to plant trees on them.. :D

it was both "to cover up the paste and leave no traces" :mischief: yet my way of sorta saying... "respect" .... not really i know but you cant really build a garden or something....

In my opinion, rubble looks cool. And besides, it builds character and hardens my citizens so they can be drafted at 16 to serve a 15 year military service abroad.
