I've read over corruption and found out I should only have about 16 cities in my empire when playing on a standard map. So far this has worked out great, with really low corruption. What i'm wondering is if everyone razes the AI cities or not. That's what I do, and it works great, but i've noticed the computer gets pissed off at me. What do I do? I don't want a ton of cities with so much corruption I lose out.

See, if you raze cities, the AI will consider you a canibal and obviously your rep'll suffer
However, by razing u get 2 advantages, a) less corruption, b) no stupid culture flips, However you still have to finally decide which it is you prefer, a big score, or less corruption
hope this helps

Nice choices. Well, I'd definitely rather have score, so I guess I don't have much choice...Thanks for the insight:cool:

I prefer capture. If you raze and don't settle it yourself the spot will get settled by some other AI. I just keep it and deal with it.

I agree with The Quirk because otherwise the AI will just build there again. Also if you are the only one the continent i always fill up the entire continent or else the AI will build there and make a nice little outpost for invading your civ.

If you're going to keep the city be sure to consider starving out the indigenous population to reduce the chance of a flip. By shutting down all the worked tiles you can entertain the heck out of the stinking foreigners and they laugh all the way to their graves. However, if your rep already stinks then burn the town and pop out a settler from an overpopulated city of your own. Just know what you’re going to do before you have to make the call so you bring along the appropriate units. Having the settler and a couple of defenders ready for homesteading right after the ashes cool will keep any opportunistic AI from interfering with your urban renewal plan.

i usually don't raze enemy cities, like to incorporate them into my empire, develop them and show how my enlightened rule can benefit everyone on the planet. :)

At the beginning of the game, I will always annex the cities into my own empire. Later in the game, if I run into huge cities whose population is above twenty, I will either raze the city and resettle, or bomb the city to rubble until it has a population of at most 3.

I always capture cities. Even if there's mass corruption and waste, you still get the little bit of goods from the city center, which is better than none, and the poulation will gradually assimilate into your culture, especially if you are more culturally adept than the other civilization. Just rush improvements for happieness, and sit back and watch them adore you!:D

Why not capture the city (if it is large) then abandon it and quickly resettle with the settler you get from abandoning. It would be quicker and easier than starving them out or bombing them to death. I have never tried this, I just thought it up. I will try it tonight.

With large cities I change all the citizens to tax collectors while I starve them to death. It is tedious because I have to change them each turn because they revert back to the AI default. But if I am in need of money it is worth it.

I prefer to keep the city. If I don't like the location of the city, I'll pump out settlers until the town is empty.
