Reasearch Agreement provides no Boost

I found a bug where the Research Agreements do not provide any Technology Boost at all.

This has happened several times in several games. Although they did provide a boost early in the game I am not sure why it does not always work.

Civ V BNW Version: 1.03.18 , (Released 7/2/13)

This is one of my save games where the Research Agreement with Brazil does not provide any beakers (technology boost). The save is the turn before and no matter how you setup your research for the next turn you get nothing from the agreement.

Looks like Pedro backstabbed you. A number of folks have reported that RAs with backstabbers yield no beakers. The RA is still shown as an active trade, but no beakers when it resolves.

This bug is apparently caused by your DoF with Brazil having lapsed before the RA completed. See, for example, this thread.

I don't think orderly expiration of DOFs causes this. I think a denunciation (by the human player or the AI) causes the RA to fizzle when it matures.

I took another look at each of the saves posted in that other thread. In each case, the human player was backstabbed by the AI or, in the case of Mbarinov's Ethiopia saves, was the backstabber.

Just confirming once more anyway, because I do want to add this:
Jeez... France is such a lackluster Civ now. They need their old UA back (on top of what they have now). Maybe reduce it to 1 culture per city (or make it Paris only with still +2).

Correct. I didn't phrase my previous post very well.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Brazil did indeed backstab me and denounce me out of the blue. I think maybe one of the other civs paid him to do it.

Anyway, Is this RA fizzing out how it is intended to work or is this a bug?

It seems to me if this was intended then the RA would be canceled and no longer show active.
