my game seems to be limited to a reasearch speed of 4 turns. my last tech was invented in 4 turns with 1400+ gold. i tried increasing reasearch from domestic advisor to 1400- gold per turn and it still takes 4 turns to invent something. Is this normal?

Also, the maximum is 50 turns in C3C. (40 in PTW and patched Vanilla, 32 in unpatched Vanilla. 4 has always been the minimum, though.)
Thanks guy's. I thought something was going wrong based on my civ2 experience. I guess no more 5 'future techs' in 3 turns, just got civ3 and am playing at prince level.
Actually, 2nd game. The first died due to a slow start/expansion coupled with leveled reasearch levels. i abandon the game for a new one at a lower (prince) level. After reading your replies i kinda wish I had kept one of the savegames. oh well life was cheap in those days. thank again Bilbo
