My first game I started with the Germans. I liked the idea of militaristic/scientific civ traits even though in the end it did not help me that much. The unique unit panzers though, did help me alot. Since I have only played CIV/AC about 10 times (I quite playing this series cuz I was losing way too much sleep whenever I play them), I started on chieftan.

After building my first city(Berlin) near a river/cow location, I started to explore right a way while building a settler. I lost my first worker after the misfortunes of opening up a tribe full of barbarians! But my sole warrior killed them all and was promoted to veteran and elite pretty quickly. After I spotted French I tried to build a few cities trying to contain its growth towards my cities and it sorta worked, but this killed my chances of expanding behind the french as well. As it turned out later on this was a good decision cuz corruption/waste is rampant in this game.

Everything was dandy until I realized that I cannot get horses even after a horse riding discovery. After checking civlopedia I realized I needed a horse resource (duh, went back to read the manual). The horseman werent great anyways, but musketeers are, and I did not have any saltpeter in my country. So I waited patiently while quickly jumping to democracy and tech building. By the time I could get rifleman, which did not have a saltpeter requirement, I could concentrate on pure military development. So I amassed an huge army and attacked the evil French. The battle of Paris produced a leader but I could not figure out what the hell he is for (went back to read the manual again). Suddenly, every single civiliation declared war on me! :mad:No problem, or so I thought, until my crown captured cities revolted back to French again because of culture (went back to reading manual on defections). :mad:My assult basically ended soon afterwards. Since I was very powerful the other civs quickly ended their war against me.

My next aggression came during the time of panzers. I was in a golden age finally by 1900s. During that period I was able to build many panzers, enough to wipe out the entire continent. They were GREAT units, a notch above mech infantry units in terms of attacking power and mobility. I was able to plow through cities without the aid of artilary at all. After conquering city after city:king:, I started to realize the extent of corruption as most of cities I conquered wasted everything except for 1 shield and commerce! Even after hurrying courthouses this did not help. Since people were revolting in my cities due to a long war I stopped for a little while, and attacked again until I got Russians, Japanese to 3 cities each and ended the French. In the coming dozen turns or so, about 3 of cities were assimilated back. Should of just razed cities far away from my capital and rebuild them I think.

Times flew by quickly after that, I had some sea battles with civs on the other continent and raced for the space ship. On the way I built the UN, a big mistake as every remaining civ voted against me and I lost the game. So I loaded a saved game and had to click on 'no' for hosting a UN meeting every turn. My space ship was completed pretty quickly and I won. To my dismay, but not suprisingly (this is cheiftan level after all), I ranked Bismark the foolish. :king:
