Recycling Pollutes!

Of course landfilling isn't hazardous, especially when you can ship your mercury and lead filled CRT's to India for THEM to worry about it. Problem solved.

Swedishguy, you can probably mod your game to *add* pollution with your recycling plant. You can share with us how the game is better.

Well, recycling is used in many countries to combat pollution, even when it's more expensive than the value of the useful material extracted and the cost of simply dumping the waste somewhere.
Some have abolished conventional landfill altogether and only deposit waste after it has undergone heavy treatment.

I suppose you could recycle waste only as far as it's economically sound, without concerns for the environment... not sure if it would be a net hazard or beneft then.

If you don't like how it eliminates all pollution (and it does decrease pollution in many cases such as aluminum which requires far less energy to be recycled then produced initially and generally metals are more efficient to recycle than general glass and paper). You also notice that in game, the population doesn't recycle, just industry/airports. Just pretend that some of the unhealthiness removed is from the population, not just buildings.
