Reign VIII: Production

What should we produce next?

1 archer per city, with 1 extra defending the pass to Ning-Hsia. I doubt they'll attack us, but Ning-Hsia is horribly vulnerable down there. Saladin could probably get units there faster than we can.

A stream of offensive units coming from the direction of Karakorum/Turfan should be able to foil any counterattacks coming in that direction. Another couple of archers on standby couldnt hurt, in case we need to go on the defensive.

Apologies for the size of the grab. 800*600 is the smallest I could get it without making it unreadable.

If 88k is giving anyone a headache, let me know n I'll remove it.

For some odd reason, I cant vote in this poll!

Regardless, I'd say Archers and offensive units.

Besides Workers, we need Settler(s) as well. Why is that left out in the poll?

You kidding me. You wrote this yourself:

Build our new settlement to the SE, between the Rice, Gems and Gold.

And Satis commented on it, mentioning even another future settling location in the N near Silver (spot D on the settling plan maps I once created).

Now, is there any other way to "settlement" than building Settlers?

We're about to finish a settler in Karakorum. Let's send him to get the gems, gold and rice in the SE, then forget settling for a while. If we occupy all of Saladin's cities, that'll be 8 settlements we have to keep track of. That's plenty for this stage in the game, particularly as Hatty has only four.

Incidentally, if we decide to get our hands on the silver, 2 squares due west of the iron would probably be the best location.

It just occurred to me; it would be helpful to know the makeup of Saladin's army. What would be the diplomatic implications of signing Open Borders with him? Alternatively, what do we already know?

Yes, I did write that, but it's about the Settler we are currently building in Karakorum that's due in one turn. And Satis mentioned we should settle "in the future", while he was advocating building military now.

I agree with "one Archer per City", and I agree that that pass should be guarded. But I don't think an Archer is the right unit to do it. I'd like something stronger, like an Axeman.

On the other hand, defending that pass may be superfluous once we've captured Damascus. Actually, as soon as we start attacking Damascus, all Arabian units in that area will be concentrating on defending the city, it'd more than surprising for them to try conterattack Ning-hsia.

And Mike, you need to *announce* the polls in the ongoing discussion thread (right after you've set them up), or most people wound't know.

Hmm, not a bad idea. However, judging by the poll count and the repliers to the thread, I'd say the active members of the Warmup are down to 3-4 people. If this level keeps up, we might want to call it quits or just turn it into a democratic SG.

Succession Game. 4-6 people take turns playing 5-10 turns on a Civ game. Then they post about their turn, offer suggestions & observations, and post it for the next player.
