In my first game... visited a tribal village and got a big window announcing I now have a Relic (the "Shroud of the Guru"), which goes in the slot of my Palace and gives me 4 Faith and 8 Tourism per turn. Cool! But I can't find anything about Relics in either the Manual or Civilopedia. They only mention Artifacts which apparently are found by Archaeologists as in Civ V, nothing about Relics I could find. Where is the scoop on these? Did I really find one in a tribal village, or did it arise some other way?

EDIT: It appears is the Great Works list as 'Created by Martyred Apostle", which I certainly didn't have.

Yes, tribal village. That's where you get them. Random and awesome bonus, especially if Kongo. You can trade them, and the AI seems to value them extremely lowly usually.
Archaeological artifacts are from archaeologists, much later.

Thanks, those both make sense. Is that in the Civilopedia somewhere that I missed, or do you just sort of have to know?:shifty:
Also, I now have a City-State suzerain bonus that says I get a relic whenever I discover a Natural Wonder. But I discovered Crater Lake, and no sign of a relic after several turns.

Won't get one if you don't have a slot
(either the Palace, the Temple building in Holy Site, or MontSt. michel Wonder are the Only Relic slots you can have)

Ah, I see, thanks. Poop.
If I build a slot, will I then get the Relic for Crater Lake retroactively, or only when I discover a new Natural Wonder?
