Hello to you all,

Spreading ones state religion trough diplomacy... How do I get this to work?

How do I convert a leader if the option isn´t open in the diplomacy screen? Sometimes I see it in red so the AI doesn´t want to negociate, I understand that. But most of the times it isn´t an option at all. Whats the deal here?

Anybody succesfull in converting? What did you need to do for it to succeed?

Cheers,

I just did it is morning. I had a big tech lead on one guy and had sent a bunch of missionaries in to his civ and then I talked to him and noticed that the option was now available. He wanted a few techs for it, but he was right on my border and I wasn't planning on expanding through him, so I said yes and now we're all buddy-buddy.

It's the first time I've ever seen it though.

In order to be able to force them to convert they need to have one city with your religion. I mean asking them to convert the judaism when they have no clue what it is will be hard :)

Ah, ok.

So I guess the AI civ has to have a minimum amount of players state religion within its border to make it work, right?

Thanks.:)

They have to have at least one city with your religion, and they'll be very reluctant to convert unless a sizeable percentage of their population has it. Also if they have no state religion or free religion they cannot be converted. (Unless you get them to change their civics first, which is often harder).
