OK, so I was gonna try a Religious Tourism playthrough as Byzantium (Pangaea, Emperor, Standard everything). I rolled a really great map for it too! Even if the start had no rivers, it had three wheat, a Marble nad two bacon. A bit off to the northeast was Uluru. So I grabbed One with Nature as my Pantheon and forward settled Shaka ASAP cuz he was near it. The site with Uluru had three wines (two of which was obtained by Shaka), bacon and marble all within the 3-tile range! I had 16 FPT by turn 60 or so.

Managed to get the Stonehenge too, and I had my religion enhanced before turn 80. Come turn 90 or so, I quit the game. If you think that it's because I was blitzed by Shaka, you're be wrong. Passive Aggressive he may be, he did not attack me. No.... The reason I quit was because Morocco got the Reformation belief I needed.

Is there a way to make Piety First work? I can't see myself getting Reformation as my 5th policy if I started with out and out Piety. What I did for this game was to get the four Tradition "Must Haves": Opener, Legalism, Monarchy, Landed Elite. The Grand Plan was to set up three to four core cities, then once I get the Reformation belief, dot the land with Eastern Orthodox reliefs and Images, and cruise my way to a pre t-200 Culture win, picking up Borobodur and Great Mosque if able (so that all my Faith will be spent solely on getting those buildings up). I tried a Liberty approach (until Collective Rule. Plan remained largely the same), but faced massive Barb problems across my four cities.

Read Sadato's guide. You don't do sacred sites thing if you go tradition.
