I have two copies of civ 2-one is the origional version and one is civ2 gold multiplayer. Over the years I have managed to scratch both up so they won't load. I would like to know if anyone is willing to burn me a replacement for one or both discs. I can give you a few bucks for the discs and shipping. It wouldn't cost much more to just buy the games again, I suppose, but since I already have rights to the two, I don't think its illegal for me to just get copies made and I don't think the discs have any unique identification numbers on them. I would be happy to email pictures of the ruined discs if you want.

Its still illegal, but not morally wrong... I only have ToT as well but there may be a no CD patch or something you can download so that you don't need the CD.

You could also try burning them yourself. Most burners and burn programs like Nero can correct most scratches and errors. As long as the CD is not broken, it is possible to simply copy them onto a new CD-R.
:D

There is a no-cd patch available at gamecopyworld - original civ2 can be played without the cd anyway (but without the wonder/spaceship movies).

You can simply copy the VIDEO and KINGS directories to your Civ2 directory. :yeah:
Then you will have all the videos and the heralds in the game. You should also change the WhereIsCD line in the Civ.ini to your Civ2 dir. Then you can play without a CD at all. For music you can insert any audio CD you like.
:D

Nice idea Lucky!!!! I still have the CD, but I like the part that you don't need to use it!

I tried this, but it didn't work:(

I wanted to try multiplayer so I installed the MGE-patch on both computers, but I couldn't start one of them them because I only had one cd. I then changed WhereIsCd to the cd-drive on the other computer and tried to run it. It didn't work, because it sensed the path was not on a cdrom-drive. So I had to give it up, guess I have to burn the cd unless someone knows what I did wrong.

Do not use the EXE that has a no-cd patch applied to it. Use the original .exe, and use Lucky's method. :)

I just make shortcuts to the different .EXEs in my 4 civ 2 directories, and activate whichever version (e.g., MGE, Classic, FW) and variant (e.g., No-CD, regular, regular with hard drive "cd").
