alrighty. heres the situation

Aztecs and zulu have a Mutual Protection pact

Aztecs and Myself have Rite of Passage.



Now if I wanted to declare war on Zulu, the Aztecs would obviously jump in. but would that screw up my reputation with the rest of the world due to our Right of Passage or would it ruin AZTEC's reputation?

Need to know cos the war is on ice until I find out

It seems logic that since the Aztecs declare war on you , they break the ROP-agreement and there 's no negative effect for you. Except the one because you start 1 war ( against the Zulu ).

Do you have troops in Aztec territory ? If possible retreat them, this will make the Aztec hate you less afterwards. But even with them in place I don't think other nations would hold that against you.

Better wait on expert-opinions, I'm pretty new on being a "respectable" player, befor all Warmonger-style.

I think if your troops are still in Aztec territory, that will count as an ROP-rape on your part, once the Aztecs join in as their MPP obligation. Better ask in the newbie thread in the GD section and get confirmation fr the experts.

I wouldn't build on an AI-reputation loss if I were you. There's nothing to be gained from that.
AFAIK this problem has a similar approach as breaking trade treaties. I wouldn't be suprised if the AI would blame it on you to have a trade treaty (involving gpt) broken if the AI declared war on you in the first place.

You could try to get a MPP with the aztecs yourself though.
Perhaps you could check if the ROP has expired and can be nullified. In that case, make sure you've removed your troops first as well!

Why did you sign a ROP with Aztec ? I dont think it was a good idea, because it can only hurt you. I never sign ROP.


What i suggest to you is declare war on Zulu, but dont fight them immediatly, take some good defensive position and dont attack them. Because MPP will kick in only if YOU attack a Zulu units. Wait until your ROP with aztec end, cancel it into active trade menu, and try to make an alliance with them.


Rop and Mpp are the best thing to get you in trouble, military alliance is much, much better.

Reputation hit is screw up in this game, because you can be blam while you did nothing wrong.
