I think there was a map made for a Warhammer mod, and talks of getting a team made up. I'm not sure if anything ever came from that.

Search the completed map forum for the map, you should find more info there. Hope I helped. :)

I know I'm just making more work for myself but I recently found some WH40K Poser models online... I've never played the game but I liked the look of the marines and I downloaded a few of them. I might be willing to do a few units. Or if someone else has Poser and would like to try I could give them the link, there are a lot more models on the site.

Well.. I havn't played or painted any 40k units in a while but a Warhammer 40k Mod would just not be complete without the vernacular architecture of the individual races within the Warhammer 40000 universe,
Some inspiration may be drawn from the wonerful illustrations within the Codex's

An eldar warp gate could make an interesting worker built item, like an airbase........

I can see Farseer eldrad ulthran as being the Leader of the eldar,(as you probably guessed
I used to play eldar), & Commissar Yarrick....
,The Emperor?

Here's the link to those Poser models...
http://io.spaceports.com/~ghost/
it says the models are for Poser 3 and 4, but they might work in Poser 5... I would think they would allow older models to work in 5...

Right.
This sounds promising:)

I was the one who started the orginal wh40k mod topic, yet it appears to have been corrupted into a whfantasy mod .

To solve the problem of civ-specific citys, just use different cultures.
To solve the problem of water, use space like numerous mod makers have so far. If you look hard enough and ask nicely, you can probably find space graphics for civ3. Plus, some battlefield gothic ships wouldnt go amiss.

Im looking forward to space marine captains or sargents(however you spell that) instead of great leaders.

TITANS

We must have titans.

Plus, We are going to have to play around with the tech trees to get individual units. THe warhammer team had a good idea, putting each culture into a different age, and not letting cultures advance into the next era, I think.
This way Science discoverys would represent the flow of reinforcements, Take marines for an example(i liked the marines:D ) You would start of with scouts, quickly progressing to marines, then heavy weapons, then assault squads then terminators. With a few vehicles thrown in along the way. Finally ending up with land raiders. :scan: :nuke:

We may encounter probelsm putting in newer races , and the tyranid. They are difficult to model, and in the case of new races, I gave it up months back so I have no Idea what to do with them.

Though I do think tyranids should represent barbarians.

phew...

Yes, this will be a tough one, but we wont give up so easy?

LEADERS: Yes the diff Captains out there will do just fine...and heroes like Horus?

TITANS: Yes! ...they must be in...

...I didnt play 40K, but was and is a hardcore EPIC gamer, and there are tons of units to be made from that game.

...and yes, the tyranids will be a hard nut to crack... we need to grab some one who is good with living mass to do them, if we need them at all. We got Orchs who can be the bad guys..... nah,
we need the tyranids aswell....

.... and the new race Tao?

Yeh I agree with omnimower.

I took a look at those models. AS for marines, Those unreal tournament models are perfect, but the poser models just wont do. They dont look quite right. The vehicles made in poser will do nicely though :)

A list of races?
We can only have four cultures remember, unless someone knows a way to add more.
