Location
Köln, Cologne, Colonia. Finally.
Since I currently have more fun in playing from a horrible start on a level like Emperor or DG than rerolling until I get a good start for Deity/ outstanding start for Sid, I'm looking for more insanely bad starts.
Not those boring ones, with some tundra or jungle tiles and nothing but non-bonus grass, I mean those  starts that would even kill a Sid AI.

Like the ones in those two SGs:

So, if you happen to have a save from a start where you, maybe in hindsight after scouting the vicinity, felt REALLY offended by the map generator, I want it. Either post it, or pm me.

Standard map size prefered, everything else doesn't matter, I'll extract the seed anyway. Note I don't need a save from the start, any save will do it.

And please don't tell me more about it, then I would find within the very first turns anyway.

Ooh, this sounds interesting. Fighting geography (more than usual, anyways). Great idea, Doc.

Nothing but desert for miles around (and a lot further than can be seen on this screenshot). This is Emperor, Pangaea, 80% water and the Dutch are quite close by.

At home I have a Huge pangaea/tiny island start if that would interest you (or anyone; I guess this thread could become a popular repository).

edit: here's how it looks after a few turns...the save is in a post below.

Huge/tiny are not really my preferences, but sure, as long as those starts are entertaining (do you happen to have a screenshot from the start?)....

The really great thing about c3c here is the seed idea; being able to pick Civs/difficulty settings like you want and restart rules.

Since I will use seedbeast for all saves anyway, I will collect the files and post them here. Maybe I'm really not the only masochist ;)

:spank: :thanx: :spank: :thanx:

Maybe this will seem still too easy for a seasoned veteran...

Here's a nice island (you start next to the sugar in the SW), standard-size archipelago map.

Exactly 4 2-food tiles on the whole island, one of which is located in a next-to-useless position. Have fun ;).

Yikes! The RNG gods must hate you, jack!

The watcher.

Actually, DocT inspired me to try this too :). I'm playing it on emperor level and it may yet be winnable, although the lack of productive cities is a pain.

I don't feel particularly wronged by the rng gods - not many people get 7 SGL's in a monarch OCC either :D.

I picked the Dutch, which is probably the single best civ for this kind of map although the extra food obviously doesn't come into play until after republic.

Attached is the save for the start I mentioned above.
Caveat emptor: If you want to actually load the save, it's 1.15 b. Don't ask me why I kept it so long...
Also, the save was generated as Maya (it was intended for a milk run) so I guess changing to a seafaring civ will probably not start you on the island.

How's this for an ugly start. It's vanilla civ though. And yes, ALL the area above it is jungles and mountains. There is not a SINGLE non-jungle, non-mountain tile for quite a significant area. And it's an island. The only other civ on the island is the expansionist England. And their starting position is just where the jungle ends with grasslands and a couple of cows. And luxuries.

It's ugly but not completely desperate because you're industrious. Just found your city and start building workers and workers and workers.
Of course the English may wipe you before you have more than three decent cities.

Hey, I do have something pretty ugly - if I may say so (you start on the upper part of the island).
It's Conquests 1.22, emperor level, Carthaginians.
