Resource Acquirement

This idea would be to trade resources with other nations even if you already have them. Sort of acquiring a surplus.

Ex. You have iron, and you want to get more from your negotiating partner, you should be able to.

The point would be to acquire a monopoly on certain ressources, or at least prevent the AI from trading that particular resource to another one.

I think it's a good idea. But God knows the AI is at enough of a disadvantage already. Still, this is a perfectly sound strategy and should be available.

There is no real benefit to have a monopoly on a certain resource, with the exception of denying it to another civ, which could be a benefit which means I just went around in a circle. :crazyeye:

I don't think this would be a good idea unless the AI is able to comprehend the pros and cons.

Since very few players, actually trade their strategic resources to the AI (this is an assumption on my part based on what I have read through the threads on this site), this idea would really only benefit the player at the expense of the AI and thus have an unbalancing effect on the game.

Now, multiplayer is a different story....

Perhaps if the chance of a resource running out were in some way tied to how MUCH of that resource you had, then there would be another more important reason to obtain the resource even if you have a deposit of it (gee, now where have I heard THIS before? ) This would mean that large nations which might be stretching their existing resource to their limit, might seek out fresh deposits of the resource via trade! Just a thought!
