Resource Piles

So just a quick question; for things such as strategic resources like aluminum or iron, do they come in set amounts or is it random, such as iron only comes in quantities of 3, 6, or 9 on a tile, or could it be any amount from 1-8 or something like that? And if so, what is the largest a pile can hold?

Iron can come in stacks of 2 or 6. Horses and Uranium come in stacks of 2 or 4. Coal comes in 3 or 7. Aluminum comes in 3 or 8. Lastly, Oil comes in 3 or 7, and 4 when it's in the water.

Edit: the amounts are based on game settings, so different amounts will be used for different settings The above is from standard pace and legendary start.

I've seen 5 aluminum, and 5 oil whether or not it is in the water.

I don't think I've ever seen that. It's possible the values are altered with game settings, I suppose.
