Resource trades only allowed in units of 5

When I change the quantity of resources in a trade proposal, it immediately changes back to 5. Same as the former gpt bug, but now for strategic resources.

I am finding that when I improve a strategic resource, I am seeing one tile of iron giving me multiple (5 sounds right) "units" of iron ... maybe it trades that way as well?

Different strategic resources give different quantities of output. I've had iron range from 2 units to 6 units of Iron from the node. I think it varies depending on what hexagon the iron spawns on, or it may just be random.

I expect that to apply to all strategic resources that I've seen (horses operate similarly). You don't always get X units, you'll get a random range of possibilities which is set when the node initially spawns (during map creation?).

Can you please provide a save showing how to reproduce this?

A sample save is attached, but it's been persistent throughout several games, so I imagine that any save will work as long as some resources are available for trading.

Since I initially noticed this, I've determined that it only applies to trades in which you request a strategic resource from the AI (and not those in which you offer a strategic resource). In the attached save, try asking Washington for horses and then changing the number requested. It'll instantly jump back to 4 (it's usually a default of 5, but is 4 in this case because that's all he has).

(And no, it's not fixed in the patch that came out 9/27.)

I get a runtime error/CTD when loading the save file. Probably the "Deluxe Edition 1.0.0.62 bug." I'll check again after the bug is patched,

I can confirm this is still happening after .62, not sure about .621 though. You really should be able to reproduce this with almost any mid-game save by attempting to trade some strategic resources.

I can now open the trade bug save game. This is what I see:

Askia has 4 horses. If I click on his horses (which makes him offer 4 ) and ask what he wants for them, he says no such trade is possible and the number of horses on the table is reset to 0. If I change this to some other number of horses and ask what he wants, the number is reset to 0. OTOH, if I ask for horses and I also place something on the table (such as gold), he again says no such deal is possible, but the number of horses is reset to 4. Washington has 6 horses and essentially the same thing happens, except the number of horses is reset to 5 if I put something on the table when asking for horses.

The title of the thread states that (Strategic) Resource trades are allowed only in multiples of 5 (or less, if the AI has less than 5). However, the save file doesn't demonstrate this because the AI won't accept any trades in this particular situation. It seems that I can propose a trade for any number of horses, but the AI won't accept it. The proposal gets reset to some number other than what I proposed. Is that the bug?

If the bug is that the AI will only accept trades for strategic resources in multiples of 5, then we need a save file where the AI will actually agree to such a trade.
