Sorry of discussed previously:

Does Conquests have a lot LESS resources and terrain goodies (eg wheat) than previous versions? It sure seems so to me. I'd like to see choice on the pregame screen to set the amount of terrain resources to high low medium or something like that.

There seems to a shortage of strategic resources. The bonus resources we are use to may seem to be less because of the new ones.

I am playing a totally random map right now that has more bonus resources than you can shake a stick at :)

I know that they have definitely lowered the number of Strategic Resource deposits, with increasing scarcity the higher you go in levels. I don't know the specifics, but there was a thread somewhere that covered it.
I play at Emporer and Demigod levels, and consider myself lucky if I get Iron or Horses. It is indeed a stroke of luck to get both without having to fight for it.
All in all, I have noticed a lot fewer deposits of things like Iron, Horses, Saltpeter, Coal, Rubber, Oil, etc. I normally only worry about Iron/Horse, by the time Saltpeter or Rubber shows, I'm prepared to take it by force if necessary.

al thor- I've noticed the same things and playing as the Celts alot I've got
to have the IRON :hammer: . I got the S O Z so I didn't have any horses
but it didn't matter ;) :D ;) .

I have definately notice this, some people will say it then falls upon you to be strategic and go and capture some strategic resources or trade from another civilisaiton. However, if it's late in the game and I have no rubber, oil or alluminiom (sp), and only 2 out of 8 civilisations do then there is little way I will be to secure the necessary resources and this is becasue:

1- I don not have the necessary strategic resources to buid an army to secure them... if I trade to get them, build up an army and try and recover some resources then it is likely that they will eventually overrun me as I will no longer have the resources to replenish my losses (taking into account medium difficulty level and they will stop trading the resource one we are at war).

2- I won;t have these resources and therefor will lack the strength to defend myself and other civ's will come for me.

*There is nothing worse than spending hours building up a new empire and only to find out that later in the era's you don't have the strategic resources to... do pretty much anything and by then the other civ's will have them.

So just including an option of Low, standard, High and Excessive (perhaps having global consequences like global warming for the two higher ones will balance out the game play) would be an improvement.

*Rant over/ :D
