Resurrection and equipment

No doubt this has come up before, though I couldn't find it:

The Life III spell Resurrection as I understand it recreates the Civ hero at 0XP. Does it generate the resurrected hero with its original equipment? I suppose one could generate quite a lot of Empty Biers this way... or does this not work (I haven't gotten around to try it yet). Could one also have Donal cast Recruit, then offload the shield and delete Donal to resurrect him to start afresh? :crazyeye:

empty biers? try rathus' netherblade or azalkan's black mirror... dunno if it would work though, and you'd need quite a bit of exp on your archmages to do so.

I came up with that example only because I'm playing Bannor / Order at the moment. Sphener's Life III spell is just two advances away... I'm sure other races have better equipment to spam with.

Technically I think the equipment is created with the unit but then immediately removed before the spell's python call ends.

They do not resurrect with their items if it is still in the game. I don't know exactly how you destroy an item, but perhaps if it was destroyed they would resurrect with it?

Anyway, you want a fun thing to do, dedicate a caster to Life III and get Rathas to level 6 time and time again. It's a 33 turn investment, but it's an easy way to get an extra shade.

No, the code does not check to see if the equipment is still in the game, it only removes all equipment from the hero when it initializes it.

Can Grigori adventurers be resurrected with the Life III spell? Similarly, can Grigori build Shrine of the champion after the first adventurer dies? Or do Grigori simply lack a national hero?

The Grigori simply lack a national her, and thus lack the shrine of the champion and the ability to use resurrection. Well, they cast cast resurrection on a graveyard to get a free champion (or would it be their dragon slayer UU?), but that is technically a separate spell even if it has the same name and does not show up in the pedia.

Does that Dragon Slayer have the Hero promotion?

No. SPELL_RESSURECTION_GRAVEYARD does not give any special promotions to the Champion it creates. It is not really meant to replace Ressurection for the Grigori, but to suplement it for everyone.

I just checked and it does give a Champion UU instead of the default unit if the civ has a champion UU other than NONE but still gives a champion to civs like the Sheaim who cannot build champions. I'm not quire sure how life magic manages to resurrect an Iron Golem from a graveyard though...

Maybe the Grigori could have a Shrine of the Champion UB that unlocks at a certain tech rather than with a hero's death...
