Hiya

Having just got a decent computer at home (with internet capabilities...yay!) I decided to start playing throught the GOTM.

I just wondered on the formula used for scoring.

I cant use the score calculater (no excel...OK not that decent a computer!) so has anyone got the formula? Has the fomula changed at all at any point? Also why do you need saves at 0 and 1000ad? Does it affect the scoring?

I have started at GOTM 11.

Cheers in advance...

Jer

The formula is on this page, as well as the basic rules:

http://civ2gotm.civfanatics.net/civ2gotmrules.shtml

The point of the saves is to help the administrators detect attempts at cheating when awarding titles (Highest Score, Fastest Finish, etc.). There is also a deadline, which is usually the first weekend after the beginning of the next month. GOTM 40 is currently in play; I'd suggest you try that first during May, then go back and play some of the older ones. GOTM 40 is King level difficulty.

BTW, Welcome to CFC!

Thanks for that!

I must admit I've been on lurk mode for quite a while...this is the website I visit most (sad but true!). Just been in awe of the greatness on display and a little bit intimidated! I love CIV II but now I've got a decent computer...CIV III is calling me a bit...I shall resist...but I'm getting weaker...

Its good to see the GOTM is still going strong though...especially reading the threads about the time CIV III came out. Good work people!

Read some more about the strategies with Civ II -- once you get the satisfaction of seeing strategy working, you might resist the temptation of Civ III even better. :ar15:
