I'm about to finish my first mod, and I want to come out of the closet : I suck at art!
*for those wondering, I started making Canada as pet project after a question I asked on reddit (yes I've been working on that mod for 2 months)

But, good for me, I was able to find some assets I could use from another mod here (from JFD), namely the Leader and the Mountie in my case.

Now, if i follow the Modiquette from the forum, as long as I give proper credits (which I intended to do in the first place anyway) all is good; but it really that simple?

I also tried yo get in touch directly with the creator through Steam, Discord and direct messaging in the forum (sorry for the stalker behaviour, I'm harmless I swear) but nothing worked. I'm torn between going for it and asking for forgiveness afterwards or just slap an image in place of the leader and be done with it.

What are your thoughts?

The Modiquette is a compilation of "unwritten rules" because "we" (ie moderators/admins) are not strictly enforcing them. We'd like people to share all assets, but we're not going to force them to do it if they don't want.

But even if there were rules, IMO making a Canada civilization mod using assets from another Canada Civilization mod would relate to the "be creative" section of the Modiquette, so it would be necessary to get the authorization of the team behind JFD version, and present your mod as a conversion/revision of their work (I've the feeling that the leader's art is kind of the core/spirit of a Civilization mod). But again, that's just my opinion here, not a CFC statement.

In this case, I'll go with an image if I can't get a hold of the team behind JFD. I'd still rather get their permission; do you know who I can reach from JFD team and how to actually reach them?

Thx
