We all know there are two kinds of teach: ones you need and ones you don't. But I think they are organised badly. For example, both Libraries and Hospitals come about from 'dead-end' techs not required to advance. But look at the most adavnced civs today and they'll have both, in relatively big numbers. I'm sure there are a few others as well. I'm not saying just make these techs mandatory, making you having to research more, but to stick them in a better place on the tree.
