Revolution in 1 turn

I'm playing the japanese on pangea, small world. I have just taken over the Chinese, and for some odd (knock on wood) reason, everytime I have a revolution, it is only for 1 turn. So, if I get the conquering-bug, all I have to do is go to monarchy for a while the go back. Has this happened to anyone else? It does it everytime I have had a revolution (4 times now).

This is why I love religious civs. If your period of anarchy lasts for five or six turns, this could put you seriously behind in the tech race.

I'm always hesitant to pick a non-religious civ because of this fact, 7 turns of Anarchy takes a LONG time.

Just a suggestion, are your opinions of possibly taking the turns of anarchy from 7 down to 4 or 5 turns?

At first I was hesitant to try a revolution during a Golden Age (non religious Civ), but the revolutions also last only one turn, so its well worth it.

You must have been lucky. I played a game as the Russians and held a revolution during my golden age (forgot I was having my golden age) and anarchy lasted for 5 turns!

On a related note, do you remember in Civ 2 where there was the Statue of Liberty wonder, which made all revolutions take one turn? Civ 3 could really use something like that. I was looking at the editor to see if I could make a wonder that did that, but I couldn't figure out any way to do so.

yeah i played Civ 2 for 2 years but even when i had the statue of liberty the anarchy continued for a long time... so the statue of liberty was useless for me.

Who decided on that trait for the statue of liberty? That doesn't make much sense.

Yeah, but doing that really devalues the religious attribute. 8(

Actually in civ2 the statue was only really useful to give you all the governments (like fundy and commie) early on. Every 4 turns you could revolt without anarchy in civ2 (oedo years), so that attribute of the statue wasn't really necessary.

It's already one of the best attributes (if not the best, no anarchy = govt switching whenever you want, cheap improvements=100s of shields saved on temples, which are necessary for many cities unlike libraries or barracks), and having a great wonder which removes anarchy wouldn't be such a big blow as only one civ could have it.
