I've found it's made me a MUCH more rounded player, to when I randomize everything at the start... ALSO randomize the victory conditions amongst the standard ones (randomly turn some off and leave others on - just roll dice and odd/even on/off the victory conditions). This forces warmongers to try to win some games that can't be won by warmongering, and likewise forces diplomats or space builders to occasionally put on the black hat and go club some baby seals. It seems to me to add to the enjoyment of the game, to know that I can't just do the same "Tried and true" things, and have to expand my horizons. Just one of the reasons this game rules.![]()
I think gotm decides what is the best to play the game

No really, of course there are different ways to enjoy the game.
I think my way is the best way to reach an early as possible victory though.
I keep having fun in doing the same thing until i think i do it perfect. (or close enough to it)
But when i think it is pretty reasonable to assume one wants to persue one goal as good as possible rather than persue all goals on one game. ie, either go for fast victory, or go for culture, or go for space.
My posts, and i regularly mention that in my posts, are only to be used when going for militairy domination unless mentioned otherwise.
My next gotm will be a spaceship though, i think my conquering skills are close enough to perfect for me.
(This also illistrates civ3 has a much too short learning curve. I played starcraft for 4 years and still did not feel i was anywhere in the neigbourhood of perfect, that is a good learning curve, although maybe not so fullfillig when you can never reach the point that you want to reach)
