If you'd looked at the original backgrounds, I did, but I was persuaded to do other backgrounds by genuine Aussies .

As for the UU.. I would say either ANZAC Infantry or Light-Horse Cavalry. Heh.. the two units I want most to be created are the Australian Light-Horse Cavalry and the Cherokee Light Horse Police Cavalry (for the UU for my Cherokee Civ mod).

I agree. I've been thinking about how the light horse cavalry would be more unique than one of the other cavalry type replacements.
Historically, they are most famous for their efforts at Gallipoli, where they actually discarded their horses and became an infantry. Thus, I thought the following modifications would be appropriate;

Movement of 2 instead of 3 - A balance between the cav. speed and infantry speed, as at times they were either.
Amphibious Assault - That's what they were used for at Gallipoli (albeit unsuccessfully. Its interesting to know, however, that this failure was one of the main reasons that Churchill was so reluctant to advocate the Normandy landings).
Blitz ability - Balances out the fact that Australia's cavalry replacement only has 2 movement... they get to do more with those moves.

I was the one responsible for getting it scrapped . Its nothing against the opera house as such... its just that there were more appropriate landmarks available. The Opera house was only built in the nineteen seventies, so the modern era was all it was appropriate for. However, as Sydney is not our capital, I suggested to R8XFT that Parliament House, Canberra, might be a more appropriate background.

Thankfully he agreed... I'm sick of Sydney getting all the publicity. Especially when Melbourne is so much more liveable

Actually I thought I saw an Anzac Infantry last time I checked the PTW extras WW2 foldier. Could that possibly be the unit you Aussies have been referring to?

Could be... I only got conquests without the extra content. I think the Anzac inf. is also in Pacific scenario, if I'm correct?
However, if a light horse unit was done, it'd have to be a world war one type cavalry. See attatched
