I played with Rome with the easiest difficulty. @Rhye can you please add some detail on the victory conditions? In civ IV we knew how many cities in each region, I believe I got enough cities but only roughly 800 points. The save is attached.

I kept playing, at 1665 there is not a single european colony anywhere in the world. I was playing with chieftain. Save is attached

OK I think I know why. On Chieftain all players are slower. The measure I took to counter was fixing the problem, but causing a snowballing later, so I reverted the change.
I will reexamine it.

I tried to play with prince, attached the save. I would greatly appreaciate any feedback on what I was doing wrong.
