Running on laptop

I have a feeling I'm out of luck here, but I'd like to run Civ IV on my laptop. I was able to get it installed and play for the most part, except that the entire main map screen is black except for special squares like cities, resources, ect.

I realize the laptop doesn't meet the min requirments, but I'd LOVE to get it working there (I don't mind if it's slow). Is there ANYTHING I can do that might make it work (I haven't downloaded the patch yet, but I'm assuming that won't do it).

EDIT - maybe I should have done some research. From reading some other posts here it looks like SOME black map problems were fixed with the patch. I'll try that tonight, but any other suggestions to try as well would be appreciated.

Post your lappy spec too and some people might be able to help you out more once you've tried everything and still possibly having problems with it. Some people have got running fine on their laptops so you might be luck, depends on the hardware.

If you end up posting issues, please post your Dxdiag as well

You have an integrated graphics chip - the game does not support on board graphics, you need a video card (unless its the latest Intel Extreme series which yours is not). RAM is low, need 512mb with XP & Civ IV. Your processor is just inside recommended spec, but that low a processor and IGP ....

It will not run properly on that laptop.
