Rush builds from GE and "1 more turn"

Ok, so not that "one more turn". But two different times in my current game I spent an early GE (one from Hagia Sophia, one from Liberty) on a wonder (Chichen Itza, Porcelain Tower). As everyone knows, the wonder still takes one more turn to finish, even with the full rush build.

Both times, the AI completed it in the interim between spending the GE and my next turn, rendering the super-important early GE to just a small pile of

Bad luck, I know, but I think GEs should give you the wonder immediately so this can't happen. I've had it happen 4 or 5 times now and it is super annoying and hard to prevent.

it's happened to me a few times too, and I agree it's extremely annoying...

however, with the order of things in ciV, by the law of averages, it will happen sooner or later, so not much you can do except put up with it!

Just make sure you hit the tech needed for the wonder before the AI does.

And that is why I auto-save every turn, which I actually do because the game used to crash a lot in the later eras last year. But yeah, losing a Grand Person is extremely discouraging
