I will end this debate, now, for all rational individuals.
1) The prescription was in his Doctor's name.
2) It was a month's old, 30 pill prescription, with one pill missing.
3) Mr. Limbaugh claims that they were in the bag since he got them and forgot about it.
4) Mr. Limbaugh's bags were the only one's searched that day, at that airport. I.E. He was targetted.
Of course, the simple fact that his opponents cannot attack his point of view, but can only attack his appearence or alleged medical issues kind of invalidates my percieved worth of any such opinions.

You're right though, there's not much to the whole thing. To me it was always mostly funny about the juxtaposition of the people and events, and I found the tie-in to his recent... um... "exploits" isn't the right word... "troubles" amusing given his status as a pedant of morality.

He's a radio personality who rose to prominence in the mid 80s. While he didn't invent talk radio or even conservative talk radio, he completely elevated it and became one of the top 2 or 3 radio personalities of the last 20 years.
He lambasts his targets and frames his show in extremely favorable terms. In that, I've never heard him have a guest w/ whom he disagrees. Granted, I've not listened to him in a few years, so I could be wrong about this.
He's a pop culture icon as well. He's certainly become a fixture of leftwing ire, to say the least. He's also coined some terms that have become part of the lexicon to a degree, "********" comes to mind.
From an objective standpoint, I can truly say he's excellent at what he does.
Now, since he criticizes so much that he sees as wrong in this country that he's put himself on a pedestal, so when he has personal issues (most notably 3 divorces and a drug plea bargin for what could be considered trafficking in narcotics*) he is rightly criticized.

FWIW I think its because it was a private plane, plus, Rush has a criminal record, so it may be that:
A. private planes coming from places like the Dominican are always searched
B. its a condition of his parole/plea bargin/whatever
I wouldn't say "hero". Many doubtlessly listen to him regularly and may even believe whatever he says, but many also recognize his rhetoric for what it is.toxicseagull said:
