Squad Leader
The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass leaving memories that become legend, then fade to myth, and are long forgotten when that age comes again. In one age, called The Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose around the lone peak of Shayol Ghul and carried down the valley of Thakan'dar. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.
The wind rose and traveled south, across the mountains of Dhoom. It traveled into what many call the Westlands. It traveled to your home. A beginning.

Welcome to Salvation, a next gen AC. I say next gen, because with summer coming along, I have time to give this the proper attention to detail it deserves, and I have big plans. This will not only revitalize PvP Acing, but also combine traditional character focusing with a command element if the player chooses to do so.
Lets start with the setting of this AC. It will take place in the world of a series of books, called The Wheel of Time. This book series can be described in a wiki found here. The general premise of the books follows a group of 3 special young men called Ta'veren that have a large influence on the world events, eventually coming to save the world from 'The Dark One'. One of these men is 'The Dragon Reborn'. Channelers 3000 years ago used the One Power to bore into the fabric of space and time in search of a special 'True Power'. They unknowingly bored into the prison of the Dark One, the source of all evil in the world, from the prison that the Creator made for him at the beginning of time. After 100 years of influencing the world, he started a 10 year War of the Shadow, which lasted until Lews Therin Telamon managed to reseal his prison, using The One Power. TDO utilized dark creatures or shadowspawn such as trollocs (half human, half animal beasts 10 feet tall), Myrrdraal (Think of the wraiths from Lord of the Rings), and other creatures. The forces of Light were led by Lews Therin Telamon, named the Dragon. But as Lews Therin made an imperfect seal on the Dark One's Prison, the Dark One tainted the male half of the One Power, known as Saidin, driving all male channelers mad. The men then proceeded to 'break the world' as the random release if the one power by madmen created 10 years of chaos as mountains were annihilated and created, land rearranged, etc.
The One Power is the force that drives the Wheel of Time. It can be touched by humans and used similar to what we call magic. It is similar to elemental magic in that it 'weaves' strands of the power according to different elements, fire, water, air, earth, or spirit. Males can touch one half, called Saidin, and females can touch Saidar. In resealing the prison of the TDO, Lews Therin allowed TDO to taint Saidin. This caused Lews Therin and every other male channeler of Saidin to go mad. Lews Therin killed his family and then himself, and the other men caused a 'breaking of the world' which re arranged the entire geography of the world.
Map:
YOU will start around the time the series of books start. Players will start in groups of 3 in one of three locations that will be revealed shortly. Age is required to be 16. You will all be channelers, which means you can channel either Saidar or Saidin based on your gender. This will be explained further below.
Fill out the below sheet to join:
Name:
Home:
Gender:
Affiliation:
Power Level:
Fatigue Level:
Talents:
Traits:
Inventory:
Companions:
Followers:
Your name is pretty obvious.
Your home will be one of three places as can be seen on the map above. The first option will be outside a free city named Katar, which is placed just SE of Arad Doman. The second option is a small village named Taan, which is not on the map but would be found on the eastern border of Altara in the south, just south of that road to Illian. The third and final option will be a mining village in the Black Hills, which are those hills west of Tar Valon. Your home will determine many things in the beginning, such as plot options.
The gender of your character will play a huge role in the game. Saidar, the half of the source channeled by females, is more or less safe. It can be channeled safely, and most women who can channel are found and taken to The White Tower in Tar Valon in order to be trained as Aes Sedai. Aes Sedai of the White Tower are led by the Amyrlin Seat and have a huge influence on the nations in the Westlands. Once an Aes Sedai you would have freedom to travel as you wish to do as you wish, or be selected for missions by the Amyrlin.
Men who channel Saidin however, are considered dangerous because the taint causes them to go mad in time. Saidin is more effective in combat though, and Men typically become stronger than females in the power. On the down side, men who channel are hunted by the Red Ajah, a faction in the White Tower. Some men who can channel flock to the banners of 'False Dragons'. These False Dragons are men who can channel and believe they are the Dragon Reborn (for it is prophesied that before 'The Last Battle' the dragon will be reborn to grace the Dark One). Players in the game who are men will likely as not have to learn on their own at first, and will usually either declare themselves the Dragon Reborn or follow somebody else who does so, although these False Dragons are normally taken down by Aes Sedai.
Affiliation is whether you belong to the White Tower, to yourself, a false dragon (and which one), a mercenary band, a nation, whomever holds your allegiance.
Power Level is how powerful you are in the source. You start at level 1, and that means you can handle 1 weave at a time and cannot use any 'weaves' (uses of The One Power, for example, a fireball is a type of weave, just as healing is) that use more of the One Power than a Level 1 can draw. Each mission a D20 is rolled, and as long as you roll above your current level you increase by 1 if female, or if male another roll will be done to determine how many levels you go up. If you DO go up, I will roll again to see if your growth 'caps' there. If your growth is capped, that mean it stops, and that is as powerful as you will become in the power.
Fatigue Level is how tired you are, either from normal activities or using the power. It will change during the mission. For each level of fatigue you have, you subtract 1 from your Power Level for your current status in the power. If you attempt to use too many weaves at once, or use more of the power than you should at your current level, then you risk burning yourself out (stopping you from ever using the power again) or killing yourself.
Talents are special talents that are related to the power. Everyone will gain a couple in time. Talents can range from Foretelling, which will allow you to make prophecies and tell the future on occasion, to Dreaming which will allow you to gain access to special features of the game that would otherwise require special discoveries, to being able to very easily use otherwise very powerful and effective weaves (useful if you are weak in the power).
Traits are characteristics that are obtained that are not related to the power. For example, you might become a Blademaster and gain a bonus to rolls made in sword fights, or a noted strategist which will give a bonus when commanding men, etc.
Inventory includes horses, weapons, armor, as well as power-related items. Such items can be Ter'Angreal which do certain things with the power, Angreal which increase your power level while using them, or Sa'Angreal which are Angreal that are much, much more powerful.
Companions are NPCs that follow you, either for a time or permanently, and are special in some way. For example, a channeler can 'bond' a warrior which bonds them to you and your orders and gives them extra strength and speed. Or it may just be a devoted follower, an NPC channeler, etc.
Followers are something different. If you ever create a mercenary band, are appointed a general, declare yourself a false dragon or anything else that might give you numbers of men and women to command, you will be commanding Followers. These followers will typically be soldiers, and you will typically command them in battle.
You do not begin the game with any Followers or Companions.
What I have not mentioned though, is that of those who join the game as a Male will have a small chance of actually being the true Dragon Reborn, and leading the forces of Light in the Last Battle if he survives long enough. However even he will not know who he is. There are prophecies that men may try and fulfill to see if they may be the one though...
First mission will be sometime this weekend, depending on how many people sign up and who is on at any given time. Also, I strongly suggest that whatever 3 that sign up in the same place are the same gender, although if they are a mix, all the more interesting.
Don't worry if it seems overwhelming. It is hard to explain all the elements, when they are explained over the course of 14 books, but you will hopefully be immersed in the world as missions go on.
