Savegame starts up in warlords?

Hey guys,

I have problems with savegames on my laptop. When I start up a savegame from the forum, it starts up in Warlords instead BtS. So I uninstalled everything, patched it and checked to see if it helps. But no, I download a BtS savegame and then the game starts up warlords again. Can anyone help me?

Start BTS and open the file from there rather than double-clicking. You may just have your file associations messed up but I've always found opening from the game more reliable.

Have you tried to load your own save game?
You can notice the file extension of the downloaded save whether it's a warlord or bts. Play a game, then save (there's also an automatic initialsave). Close the game, then double-click the save file. See if it opens in warlord.

Is your save icon appearing as bts or warlord?
If it appears as a warlord save, right-click the save file>open with...>look for bts application in prog.files/sid'sciv4/bts (or something like that).

Is warlord required to intall bts?
Unistall both bts and warlord. Then install bts first, and don't install warlords AMAP.

This has propably something to do with the complete version of civ that I have. It installs warlords automatically next to bts. There is not an option during the install to not install warlords.

Does it actually manage to sucessfully load the game in warlords? I

s it all BTS games?

Are there specific ones you could give us a link to?

It starts up in warlords, but does not upload the game then. You just get the intro screen from warlords (create game, etc...). It is with all savegames from BtS I try to load. On my normal computer I didn't have any problems. Maybe I should just delete the whole warlords section on the civ complete version. Maybe that will help.

Don't. Other bts files are in the warlords section. It will ruin your bts.

Try to copy your vanilla and bts installation setup (except warlords) to your pc, probably in D:/. Eject your disc. Reinstall, this time from your pc.

Can you then actually load the bts save from when it has started warlords? What does it say in the about this build for the warlords that has started? It is possible to change the bts screen to look like warlords. I did that accidentally once.

@Leif: Thx for the warning. I will try to find out if something goes wrong with the savegames.

@Furiey:If I try to load a savegame I will end up in the starting screen of warlords. The one with Genghis sitting at the fire. It doesn't load a save game. It just starts up warlords Freakingly annoying to be honest

This has got something to do apparantly with the full version of civIV. I got my comp fixed, installed it and when I try to load the savegame I start up in warlords again but now on my normal computer, grmblll.

But once save loaded you can actually play it? If yes, you run BTS with Warlords opening screen. You can change it in game options. Also check what build of the game you are running in Advanced menu.

If not this, check what program is default for opening save file, as jarhead_leif pointed. Not the icon but the actual program associated.

I have another small issue though: when I double click save it does open BTS but not autoload save, need load it manually. Not a biggy, just wonder how to fix this. May be because of Steam version BTS.

Finally found it. Sigh, it was exactly what Leif said but I forgot to push the always open it with this game button. Thx all, close please.
