This is driving me absolutely nuts! I have firewall issues that prevent me from hosting on gamespy and would rather not deal with the headaches of sorting them out just now. But from what I can gather on the forums is that you cannot save/resume a multiplayer game unless it is on gamespy. I have been trying repeatedly to find some dodge that will allow a game to be saved and restarted on direct IP or local modes and so far have gotten nothing but frustrated. Has anyone written a mod that will allow this? Does anyone know if firaxis has any plans to address this issue?
I would love to be able to enjoy a multiplayer game that goes beyond a single session but would rather not have to deal with gamespy to do so, it seems that just as a game starts to get going it either crashes or one or more players need to break for a while and that's it.
I will be deeply grateful if anyone at all has any information/suggestions on this problem.

You can save in the LAN, because currently I have been playing a game off and on with saving. Just hit save during the game and then leave. Then when you host another game under game type where it says standard it should say something like load game, load the save and continue playing.

I'm not sure about direct Ip though, however I would expect it would be the same process.

wow! thanks so much...I feel a little like an idiot for not noticing but I'll get over it I am sure. Of course it would have been awfully nice for that info to be in the manual, but I'll gripe to fireaxis about that.
