Welcome to my very first Story here on the CFC! Obviously, I'm using the Vikings (Scandinavia) on Chieftan level. I decided to start out on an easy level and work my way up.

I suppose I was inspired by stocktracker to start a Story on here! If you haven't already, go check out his... it's called Japan on Monarch

So I'll just post the settings today... I'm still getting used to the screenshot program I'm using... IrfanView. I sure do hope these pics work, lol.

Standard size Pangaea 70% Water... Sedentary barbs... Normal climate, warm temp, 4 billion years old.

I wanted to experiment with Accelerated Production... I think it will make for a more interesting game... hee hee... Random opponents, also.

Well, let's hope I did these pictures right... anyone interested in following this?

Cody

Yes, I'll post the starting position in about an hour. Gotta do my homework

I'm glad you can see the pictures, by the way. I was kind of worried about that.

Too many chieftain games were started in S&T forum :hmm:
As somebody said, "chieftain will only teach you how to play wrong".
Pics are showing well, but I think it would be much better if you will play game at least on Warlord level.

OK, I changed my mind. I'll post the starting location now, lol.

Just to let you know, I DIDN'T restart until I got a good one. This is the first one and I took it. Hope it works out.

BTW, Smart, all I wanted to do was get a Story started on here and get some experience. Don't worry, I will be moving up in levels! ;)

Yay your story started. Cheiften doesnt teach how to play wrong, its just if you use enough units and crap, and, surely, by stocktracker (practically) being Cody's idol here, he'll probably go for domination, and make tons of untis.

 Yeah! I made a new idol!

Yes, conquer_dude, you're actually quite right, lol. I probably will go for domination. It's kind of hard to go for diplo/space race because on chieftan, it's harder to get farther in the tech tree.

I don't know what you're trying to do with Chieftain and Accl. Production

Accelerated production was implemented for multiplayer games so they could finish faster.

I suppose a few people aren't too happy with my game, lol.

An update will come very soon!

I just got home from school and got my homework done, so here's my first update!

My capital, Trondheim, is built. It's by a river, which could be good.

I decide to go for Bronze Working and get Iron Working soon. Gems to the North.

My first road is built. The terrain here isn't looking very good.

A warrior is built. I'll have him explore to the south to see if there's better terrain next to those plains.

My borders expand and a settler is about to be built, but not much to look forward to... water to the south.

Bergen is built on a hill next to the river. I'll try to get the gems to make my citizens happy without spending excess money.

I'm really not liking this terrain. A settler is heading south. I'm going to start building archers and spearmen in case I enter a war.

After Alphabet, I decide to go for Iron Working... Assuming I have a supply of iron, I'll be able to build swordsmen.

A settler builds Copenagen in a flood plain next to a river. Also, I plan to explore west to look for other civs.

A civ! Also, 3 silks and ivory, though they'll probably get to the ivory first.

I see Orleans, so the civ is France. Also, I'm going for writing next.

I get the Wheel from a goody hut. I don't see any civs, though.

Next: Will I find any other civs besides the French? Also: I've found iron... will I use swordsman to try to wipe the other civs off the face of the... uh... map?

Good start. The terrain isn't *that* bad, you have easy access to two luxuries already and I'm sure you can get the furs with no trouble. And since this is chieftian, you might even be able to take a shot at that unclaimed ivory by France.

I would've settled Copenhagen one tile to the SW, on the plain at the mouth of the river, so that you could take advantage of the extra food from irrigated flood plain (and also have access to fish after cultural expansion). But that's just my personal preference.

If you are going to be in wars almost the entire game, I would pick Monarchy.
Monarchy is good only in AW games. You probably should read article in War Academy about war weariness to avoid those negative things in Republic.

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the unit costs because of my generally large numbers of troops. I haven't played very far in the game yet, still haven't gotten out of despotism... I suppose soon we'll find out which one i choose? ;)
